CEVICHE!!!

One of the big advantages of being in such a large population of Latin and South American influence, is the great food. I have thoroughly enjoyed trying the different tastes and varieties....John, not so much. Fortunately for him, there is almost always an all American alternative.

The other night we went to Jaguar. This is one of our favorite spots here in CG. The atmosphere, the wonderful dirty martinis, and their huge variety of Ceviche. We sat at the bar and were able to watch the chef make his artistic creations. Because it was happy hour, each drink came with a spoon of Ceviche. I benefited because John gave me his, as well :-)

LONG KEY STATE PARK IN AN RV

Had a fun adventure yesterday! We drove down to Long Key State Park and met up with friends that have their RV there for 2 weeks. The campsite is right up to the Atlantic....we were 10 steps away! We spent the afternoon catching up and enjoying the view and warm weather.

SAILING TO THE ARCTIC

Last night the Coconut Grove Sailing Club hosted a presentation by a couple that sailed up to Svalbard, Norway at Latitude 80 degrees. We went out of curiosity to see what kind of crazy these people were. They set out in a 38' Island Packet Sailboat. Their trip took about 6 weeks. It was an incredibly interesting hour and a half presentation. This is something we would NEVER consider doing, but it is so amazing that there are such adventurers in the world. You can read their blog at :

MIAMI BOAT SHOW

Long time friends, Ken and Debbie Sherwin came down last Thursday for a few days. Started out with Mojito's on the top of the Sonesta Hotel for a birds eye view of Biscayne Bay.

Next morning we were up early to brave the extreme Miami traffic and head to the Miami Boat Show. We spent several hours walking around the Convention Center looking at thousands of boat related products. We ran into several friends from our Texas boating club TMCA there. That evening, we hooked up with Beverly and Walter Caldwell at the CG Sailing club.

Next morning we headed out to sea. We took a ride out on Biscayne Bay and cruised up to Miami for a great view of the skyline. We tried to go up Government Cut, but got chased out by the patrol boats...too many cruise ships in port so it was closed to pleasure boats. From there, we cruised over to No Name Harbour to look around.  We then cruised over to Stiltsville...7 houses built out at the entrance to the Bay in the 1930's. It was perfect weather for a boat ride! That evening, we hit a few popular local establishments... Monty's, Scotty's, and the Sandbar.

Sunday morning was another warm, blue skied day. Perfect for the Coconut Grove Arts Festival....steps away from our Marina. We enjoyed Bloody Mary's and raised a toast to the poor souls buried in snow up in Boston.

We bid Ken and Debbie a fond farewell later that day as they headed back to Kemah, TX.

Today, Monday, We headed over to the Yacht and Brokerage Show. It was not crowded, as most people attended over the weekend. John and I had so much fun! We got to board several really neat yachts, and had lunch at the FountaineBleau on Miami Beach!

YOGA WITH A CELEBRITY!

Just have to post about my exciting start to yoga this morning. As I was walking into my yoga class....Martina Navratalova (sp?) was walking out of the class ahead of me. I was 3 feet away from her. Problem is, I probably won't ever be in that class with her, as it is a HOT yoga class...way too much sweating in there for me. I took the high road and did not ask her to pose in a selfie with me.
Evidently, she has a home here in the Grove.

LUNCH IN KEY LARGO...ROAD TRIP

This past Wednesday we took a ride down to Key Largo to see friends and fellow Nordic Tug owners, Jim and Linda. We had met them a few years ago in St. Augustine. They live in St, Michaels, MD, but spend the winters in Florida. They are staying at Buttonwood Bay Resort. It is really nice, with direct access to the ICW and gorgeous turquoise water. We sat for a while at the beach. It is one of the most beautiful views. I couldn't get over the clarity and color of the water. Pictures do not do it justice.
Sitting on the patio and this egret came right up to us!

We were able to see amazing detail of this bird

Nice way to spend a day in February

ROAD TRIP TO CAPE CORAL

We took a trip over to the West Coast of Florida the past couple days to meet up with long time friends, Bill and Ginny. It was our first time to travel on Alligator Alley through the Everglades. I just added Air Boat Ride to my bucket list. That is something I really want to try!
